Dr. Andrew Walker, B. Med. B. Med. Sci. (Hons) MBA| Board Member

Dr. Andrew Walker is Chairman, CEO & Founder of AMI Expeditionary Healthcare. Over the last 20 years, he has led teams that have developed and commercialized a range of successful businesses in healthcare and other sectors. In 2003, Dr. Walker Co-Founded Aspen Medical, but after recognizing that Aspen’s company’s values were no longer aligned with his, decided to separate from Aspen and demerge the company in order to develop its international arm: Aspen Medical International (now AMI).

In 2016 Dr. Walker was Ernst & Young’s “Australian Entrepreneur of the Year,” and has been twice inducted into the EY Entrepreneur Global Hall of Fame. Prior to going into business, Dr. Walker served as an officer with the Australian Army as both an Infantry and Medical Platoon Commander in its elite parachute Battalion. He is a past Chairman of the Pan Asia (Gold) and Melbourne Chapters of the Young President Organization. He has graduate and postgraduate qualifications in Medicine and Medical Science (Hons) from Newcastle University (with scholarships to both Oxford and Harvard). Upon graduation, Dr. Walker was awarded the AMA prize for 1986. In 2015 he was appointed a Conjoint Professor of Practice at the Newcastle University’s School of Medicine. He was admitted Fellow of the International College of Surgeons and has earned an MBA from Melbourne Business School. In 2016 he was awarded the University of Newcastle’s National Leadership Award. Dr. Walker has founded two Charities, the latest being the Insight Health Foundation which focuses on health issues in indigenous communities.

In addition, Dr. Walker has founded 16 companies and served on numerous Company Boards, both Listed and Private.
